Agenzia del Demanio

In the courtyard of the Rome headquarters of the Agenzia del Demanio, in via Barberini, stands a wall of Roman date: a structure with several phases between the late Republic and the Imperial age, in all likelihood part of a residential building on the northern slopes of the Quirinal, an area of wealthy houses also documented by finds of the late nineteenth century and of 1936.

The conservative restoration took place between late January and mid-July 2023. Cleaning and consolidation of the surfaces restored the legibility of the masonry and brought to light two small fragments of fresco, evidence of a fine wall covering.

The works were carried out inside a fully operating institutional building, with low-impact procedures and systematic photographic documentation of the whole process.
