Chase Manhattan Bank

The Chase Manhattan Bank office building, in piazza Meda at the corner of via Hoepli, was designed by the BBPR studio (Banfi, Belgiojoso, Peressutti and Rogers) in 1958 and completed in 1969, with Luigi Caccia Dominioni collaborating on the junction with the apse of San Fedele. The curved façade, faceted into flat surfaces, shows the exposed steel structure and the panels in trachyte and pink glass: one of the most refined works of post-war Milanese architecture.

Between 2022 and 2023 RIVA carried out the conservative restoration of the façades on behalf of the condominium of via Hoepli 7, under the direction of the architect Michele Falcetta, with Enzo Medardo Costantini, Laura Gropallo and Liborio Presti in charge of the site.

The work involved a threefold structural consolidation of the stone cladding and the cleaning of the surfaces with new-generation lasers, which remove deposits without affecting the material. The works were completed at the beginning of 2024.
