Church of S. Maria Nascente
The parish church of Santa Maria Nascente e Sant’Antonio Abate in Cassinetta di Lugagnano, on the Naviglio Grande, was founded in 1435 at the behest of the Milanese nobleman Maffiolo Birago and was already a parish church in 1455; the building, completed in the eighteenth century, has a façade preceded by a portico on two columns and an interior with three naves and barrel vaults.
Between 2017 and 2018 RIVA carried out the conservative restoration of the church: its structure and decorative apparatus, the frescoes of the vaults and walls and an oil painting.
The painted surfaces were cleaned and consolidated, the losses reintegrated according to criteria of recognisability and reversibility, and the church returned to its community with its pictorial decoration legible again.
