Ex Ca’ Rossa
The palazzo at corso Venezia 37, on the corner of via Boschetti, was built in 1837 by the architect Gaetano Casati for Baron Gaetano Ciani: the wealth of its terracotta decorations earned it the name Ca’ Rossa. In 1928 the building was stripped of its terracottas and radically rebuilt, retaining inside mosaics, faux marbles and a marble clipeus.
Between 2019 and 2020 RIVA carried out the conservative restoration of the building, with particular attention to the mosaics and faux marbles of the interiors: cleaning of the tesserae, consolidation of the detached portions, reconstruction of the losses and recovery of the faux-marble finishes with the techniques of the decorative tradition.
The work restored the original texture and colours of a little-known decorative ensemble of nineteenth-century Milan.
