Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda — Milan

Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda

Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda, at via Manzoni 39–41, is an eighteenth-century palazzo rebuilt in Neoclassical forms from 1820 for Marquis Febo d’Adda to a design by Girolamo Arganini. Its façade and the courtyard with ivy-covered arches are among the most recognisable images of the street.

Since 2022 RIVA has been working on the conservative restoration of the palazzo, within the intervention coordinated by Andrea Borri Architetti, which provided for the recovery of the original elements and the replacement of the windows beyond repair with identical sections built with new technology.

The aim is a homogeneous and legible façade that keeps the building’s nineteenth-century patina.
