Parma Town Hall
The Palazzo del Comune of Parma was built between 1627 and 1673 to a design by Giovanni Battista Magnani, inspired by the Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza, on the site of the thirteenth-century building destroyed in 1606 by the collapse of the civic tower. The façades are in exposed brick with architectural elements in stone, sandstone and pink marble; the ground floor opens with the «Voltoni del Grano».
Between 2016 and 2017 RIVA carried out the conservative restoration, consolidation and ancillary works of the wall facings. Black crusts were removed with ammonium carbonate and cellulose pulp poultices and, for the most stubborn, with laser on the marble.
The surfaces were consolidated and the cracks of the internal vaults were repaired with the «cuci-scuci» technique, closing the fissures with cement-free mortars.
