Palazzo Moriggia

Palazzo Moriggia, at via Borgonuovo 23, was built in 1775 to a design by Giuseppe Piermarini for Marquis Giovanni Battista Moriggia; in the Napoleonic age it housed the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of War, and since 1950 it has been the seat of the Museo del Risorgimento. The three-storey Neoclassical façade, with Doric and Ionic pilasters, leads to a rectangular porticoed courtyard.

In 2013 RIVA carried out the conservative restoration of the façades of the court of honour.

The surfaces were cleaned and consolidated and the colours restored according to the stratigraphic investigations, giving Piermarini’s courtyard back its original measure.
