Piazza di Spagna
Between 2014 and 2017 RIVA restored the palaces of piazza di Spagna and piazza Mignanelli in Rome: seven buildings, including the palazzo of the Valentino maison, in one of the most celebrated squares in the world. The historic plaster surfaces exceed nine thousand square metres, the stone surfaces about two thousand, and more than sixteen hundred square metres are frescoes and decorations dated from the late sixteenth century to 1934.
The intervention, carried out with the Soprintendenza Speciale di Roma and the Genio Civile, recovered elements seriously compromised or hidden over time, from the diagnostic approach to the execution phase, and left the owners with programmed maintenance schedules. It is told in the book «Storia di un restauro» by Enzo Medardo Costantini (Nardini Editore, 2018).
Since 2022 the company has addressed a second theme: a year of study, diagnostics and design for the seismic improvement of a protected building on the square, an experimental project developed with internationally recognised professionals.
